UNDER THE SAME MOON

Share a moment of silent prayer today for those who are held in bondage, against their will at The World Cup Soccer Games.
Human Trafficking is the world’s biggest disgrace against God’s Children. Children as young as 11 years old are being taken and used to carry out horrific sex activities during these games. They are given industrial strength glue to sniff in “Coke bottles” to which they become addicted. They walk the streets sniffing glue from these bottles which they now call “Cola”. It is their only means of dealing with the horror they endure daily. They cannot go home to their families unless we raise awareness and help set them free.
Get involved by becoming informed.

UNDER THE SAME MOON
Father, as I sit under the same moon

my mother sees from afar.

I long for my mother’s embrace.

I long to hear my baby sister’s voice,

laughing and talking non-stop in the next room.

You know, the sister I always complained

about on a warm, rainy evening?

I long for my family.

I long to be a child again.

These angry men, these men

who think they can own me, won’t set me free.

I pray God, that you will send someone, anyone.

Anyone other than these men to rescue me,

to set me free me from this life

I now have to lead daily.

The darkness is agony,

the rooms are tiny and hot

and the men they keep coming they do not stop!

Please send someone to take me home.

Send me away, anywhere but here.

I’m sending you a message Lord,

as I look up at the moon, the same moon I know

my mother and sister see so clear.

Please listen Lord, please Lord, hear my fear.

Send someone, anyone to take me home soon!

Take me home Lord, to sit with my family under the same moon.

GONE ARE THE DAYS

The World Cup starts in two days.

This is the largest sporting event for Human Trafficking. Advertisements start popping up luring people to the World Cup. For a little over $1000 you can purchase a plane ticket, ticket to game, hotel room and a prostitute with unlimited possibilities.

Imagine the possibilities if everyone that purchases these tickets would stop!

Imagine if everyone would boycott the World Cup games to end Human Trafficking!

I sit here at the beginning of my young life, a mere teenager stuck between my youth and adulthood. I ponder the fact that as I age, will I be the change? Can I make the difference for those around me, near and far? Given the chance, I will stand for what I believe in. I will be bold in my beliefs and my faith. I will be bold for my Jesus!

Gone are the days of the youthful childhood where popsicles melt on sidewalks. No longer can you take bicycle rides into the darkness of a hot, summer night without fear. I live in a time where we sell people, my friends as if they are a mere package placed on a shelf. I live amongst the shadows of Human Trafficking. I have watched kids on the street taken by the pimps, sold into slavery and they will never come home.

I go to the grocery store to buy ketchup and bread. As I walk down the aisle, I wonder what people would think if they saw children placed in small jars for sale. Would people be disgusted by what they see? Or would they walk by as they did when my friend was taken in the darkness? My friend, my best friend was simply being a teenager in the moment, wanting to grow old before her time. She delved into the dark side and never came home. I warned her that the internet was a bad place to go. I warned her that not knowing someone on the other side of the computer screen made it impossible to be sure if they were safe. She didn’t listen. She poured her heart out over and over to a man she thought was a boy. One day, she poured out too much information and he came and took her away.

I miss my friend, I miss our talks, yet I know that there are people out there searching for her and they will bring her home. We used to go to church together, we were baptized together. We shared our faith like some girls share makeup! We have a faith that is so strong, we only know how to be bold in our faith for Jesus! It is what made us strong, it’s what kept us going. I hope she is speaking to God, for I know I cry out daily asking Him to bring my friend home.

I live in a time where I should be dreaming about which College I will choose, and now I simply do not want to move forward in my life. I miss my friend, so I press on. My friend and I were going to study abroad together, but now when I look at my future I am too scared to move. The angrier I get, the more I want to share her story so people know who took her and where she went. I choose to raise awareness in my town, and I will not stop until Human Trafficking no longer exists.
